Attendance and Sickness

At Springfield we work hard to help your child to learn and achieve their full potential. To do this, we need your help and support in many ways. One important way that you can help your child is to ensure that they have maximum possible attendance and arrive on time each day.

Poor attendance and punctuality have a direct impact on children’s attainment and on our ability to run the school smoothly for all pupils. Our attendance figures are also monitored by OfSTED at inspections, so we kindly ask that any non-essential absences are avoided as this reflects poorly on the school as a whole.

We do understand that there are legitimate reasons to take your child out of school during term time. For these occasions, please complete a Withdrawl from Learning form below and return it to the school office. Copies of this form can also be picked up from the school reception.

The Government and West Sussex Policy states that Head Teachers may not grant any leave of absence during termtime, unless there are exceptional circumstances.  Therefore, requests for term time holidays will be declined. However, if you feel that you qualify for taking ‘leave from learning’ due to exceptional circumstances please make an appointment to speak with Mrs Wycherley.

We are part of the fixed penalty scheme in West Sussex. Further information can be found in school or on the West Sussex County Council website.
