Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club takes place every day from 8.00am until 8.45am and is held in the School Hall.

Breakfast Club is run by Mrs Alison Rainer, along with three members of Springfield Staff. Breakfast Club is an educational and physical experience, combined with a nutritious breakfast.

In some studies, eating breakfast has been shown to improve children’s problem-solving abilities, their memory, concentration levels, visual perception and creative thinking. Out of school hours learning has been shown to benefit children who participate through the development of personal and interpersonal skills, self esteem, confidence and motivation to learn. Physical activity has proved very successful;  teachers have reported increased concentration and improved behaviour of the children in the afternoons.  Breakfast Club is open to all Springfield children, 5 mornings a week in term time.

If your child is in Reception Year, Year 1 or Year 2 – you can just turn up on the day or you can pre-book and pre-pay for the week via the School Office or Mrs Alison Rainer.  The Club will cost £3.00 per child per session – this will cover the costs incurred as the Club is non-profit making.

If your child in in the Ducklings Nursery, and you would like your child to attend Breakfast Club, please contact the School Office on (01903) 219243.

Children receiving the Pupil Premium Grant will not be required to pay.

The children will start with registration, then the session will be broken roughly into three fifteen minute blocks:

The children will have fifteen minutes of physical activities and games to ‘wake them up’ and get their hearts pumping.

This is followed by fifteen minutes for breakfast.

The remainder of the session will be spent on ‘brain gym’ activities and games (i.e. getting the children thinking), quiet reading time and study-support (i.e. help with school spellings, etc.)

A nutritious breakfast will be provided for all children attending the club.  Dietary and religious needs will be catered for, however you must inform Mrs Rainer of any special requirements.

Breakfast will consist of a combination of a drink (fruit juice, milk and water will be available), a choice of cereal, toast with a choice of spreads, fresh fruit, and yoghurt or fromage-frais.
